VoP is European wide safety feature implemented by the European Payment Council, designed to make your transfers across the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) even safer.
What Is Verification of Payee (VoP)?
Verification of Payee (VoP) is a new standard that allows you to confirm whether the name of the person or business you’re paying matches the account details you’ve entered, before the payment goes through.
It’s a regulatory requirement that flykk® offer to all its users and its free of charge. By verifying recipient information in advance, VoP reduces the risk of funds being sent to the wrong account, whether by mistake or through fraud.
Even if a mismatch occurs, you’ll still have the option to continue with your payment. However, if you proceed after a “No match” warning, you may be liable if the transfer is misdirected.
How VoP Works
When you initiate a payment via Bank Transfer and the SEPA network, flykk® automatically checks the details you’ve entered against information held by the recipient’s bank. You’ll then receive one of the following responses:
✅ Match – The name and account details align perfectly.
⚠️ Close match – The information is similar, but not exact.
❌ No match – The entered details don’t align with the recipient’s account.
ℹ️ Verification check not possible – Some data is missing or cannot be verified.
This quick, behind-the-scenes check, takes seconds and it happens before your payment is completed giving you a clearer picture of where your money is going.
